Taste test

I have bottled my Hoegaarden with some help of a couple of special people. I tried a glass bottle but I don't think it worked very well because it the seal isn't very strong. This must have stopped it exploding. I have had a few of the previous brew I made and it has turned out well. It is a touch sweet so I think I didn't ferment it for long enough. I think if i can get some hops it will get a longer taste as well. If I get more practice I should be able to get a few more skills. I am hoping that the effort that I put into the Hoegaarden will pay off and it will be better again. I have just got a job so it might be less time to put into brewing but more money to buy better ingredients.

Home Brew

I am just about to bottle some home brew. It is a wheat beer that is supposed to taste like the Belgium beer Hoegaarden. This is achieved by adding some ground coriander seeds and orange peel instead of hops. It has been fermenting for 8 days at about 22 degrees which is good. I was a bit worried at first because it did not bubble much out of the air lock, but the specific gravity seems to be decreasing. I just have to wait for it to settle and it should be ready to bottle. I am going to use some old long neck bottles, so hopefully they don't explode. I have another brew that is in bottles so that should be ready to drink in a week. When this is bottled I should have a good stock pile in the cupboard. Party time!!
